Please note that we are still accepting applications for our 2020 scheme, but we may have to delay placements to later in the year. We will provide updates on this page and we thank you for your interest in the scheme.
We launched our Summer Placement Scheme in 2012 with the aim of offering paid work placements to undergraduate students who cannot afford to undertake unpaid work experience or who are from under-represented groups within the legal profession.
We know from our own experience as recruiters that gaining relevant experience can make a crucial difference to a candidate’s ability to secure a training contract.
Every year in July we give four undergraduate students (of any academic discipline) the opportunity to experience working life at Bhatt Murphy. Each two week placement is paid at London Living Wage rates and we help with accomodation and travel costs for students living outside of central London.
Feedback from past participants in the scheme can be read here.
In addition to our Summer Placement Scheme, we also work with the Hackney Schools Inspire! programme to offer work placements to secondary school students in our local area.
We do not offer ad-hoc work experience or internships outside of our summer placement scheme and the Hackney Schools Inspire! programme.
Further details about this year's opportunities are available here. Please read this information carefully before you submit an application.
Applications will not be considered unless you have completed the application form and provided a copy of your CV. We regret that due to the volume of applications we expect to receive, we may not be able to contact you if your application has been unsuccessful.
Candidates will be assessed on merit on the basis of the application form and CV submitted.
The closing date for applications is 5.00 pm on Monday 6th April 2020.
