Olivia Anness is a solicitor in our immigration detention and migrants’ rights team.
Olivia specialises in representing those who were detained by the Home Office, in public law and private law claims, which have resulted in settlements of up to £120,000. Olivia has an interest in migrants’ rights more broadly and acts for those who have been victims of abuses of state power.
Olivia is also committed to acting for bereaved families at inquests and in subsequent damages claims, including inquests into the deaths of unaccompanied asylum seeking children in the care of local authorities and those who have died during immigration raids or following state contact more broadly.
Olivia’s work also includes actions against the police and she is a member of the Police Actions Lawyers Group and the INQUEST Lawyers Group. Olivia qualified as a solicitor in 2018 after completing her training at Bhatt Murphy.
