A £52,000 to stroke victim for unlawful detention

The Home Office has made a payment of £52,000 to an immigration detainee who was partially paralysed but detained for 17 months on the basis that she might abscond.

A judge had previously ruled that she was so unwell that flying would put her life at risk.
