About the scheme

We launched our Summer Placement Scheme in 2012 with the aim of offering paid work placements to undergraduate students who cannot afford to undertake unpaid work experience or who are from under-represented groups within our firm and the broader legal profession.

We know from our own experience as recruiters that gaining relevant experience can make a crucial difference to a candidate’s ability to secure a training contract.

Every year we give undergraduate students (of any academic discipline) the opportunity to experience working life at Bhatt Murphy.  Placements are paid at London Living Wage rates and we help with accommodation and travel costs for students living outside of central London.

Following feedback from past participants, we have decided to extend our placements from two weeks to four this year.   We hope that this will ensure that the successful applicants gain meaningful work experience across our areas of practice and an understanding of the realities of working for a legal aid firm.

Please note that we do not offer ad-hoc work experience or internships outside of our summer placement scheme and the Hackney Schools Inspire! programme.  There are no exceptions to this, so we politely ask that you do not send speculative applications to the firm.
