Police failures in domestic homicide case

Coroner criticises police and makes recommendations to prevent future deaths following the murder of Anne-Marie Nield in Rochdale.

Anne-Marie died from multiple injuries inflicted upon her by her ex-partner Richard Howarth.

Reaching a conclusion of unlawful killing, the Coroner highlighted her concerns that both front line and specialist police officers had failed to understand or implement the Greater Manchester Police Domestic Violence Policy.
