Hearing begins in the Inquiry into the death of Jermaine Baker

Jermaine Baker was shot dead in North London on 11 December 2015 during a covert Metropolitan Police operation. Today marks the beginning of the 8 week evidential hearing exploring the planning of the police operation in the weeks leading up to 11 December 2015 and the circumstances in which Officer W80 fired the fatal shot.

The hearing starts with an opening statement given by Counsel to the Inquiry. The opening statement on behalf of the family of Jermaine Baker will be made on Wednesday 16 June 2021 and members of the family will give a pen portrait of Jermaine on Wednesday afternoon.
