Case notes on the inquests of Amir Siman-Tov and Branko Zdravkovic are included in the new Inquest Law issue, focused on state failures to protect immigration detainees.
An inquest jury concluded that several missed opportunities contributed to the death of Mr Siman-Tov who had a history of trauma and severe mental illness. Mr Zdravkovic’s inquest revealed a systemic breach of the statutory duty to report a detainee’s risk of suicide to the Home Office
