Ellie joined Bhatt Murphy in October 2025 as a trainee solicitor and currently focuses on cases involving immigration detention and migrant rights.

Prior to joining the firm, Ellie worked as a paralegal in the Actions Against the Police department at Bindmans primarily working on the Undercover Policing Inquiry and related civil claims. Ellie’s experience is in working with families whose deceased loved ones’ identities were stolen by undercover Metropolitan Police officers to use as cover identities. She worked closely with these families through the public inquiry and their civil claims. Ellie also worked on other civil claims against the police and Home Office, including claims in relation to protest law, false imprisonment, stop and searches amongst other areas.

Ellie also has experience working in the legal charity sector having worked as the Public Law, Clinical Negligence and Civil Law Caseworker at Advocate. As a caseworker, she worked across 15 different areas of law working closely with litigants in person in order to secure representation on a variety of issues.

Ellie has a degree in Law (LLB) from the London School of Economics. During her degree, Ellie was the Environment and Ethics Officer at the LSE Students’ Union and campaigned for divestment from fossil fuels and armaments, and successfully lobbied the university to commit to amending their sustainable investment policy in June 2021. As a result of her campaigning, Ellie was invited to sit on the board of the Grantham Institute on Climate Change as the first student member on the board.  Ellie has also volunteered previously with Lawyers for Palestinian Human Rights and the Trans Legal Clinic.
