Michela specialises in civil and public law actions against state authorities for individuals who have been unlawfully detained by the Home Office and mistreated in immigration detention or prison. She has a particular interest in cases concerning the rights of victims of trafficking and of children and young people.
Michela was part of the team acting for Medical Justice and former detainees in the Brook House Inquiry, investigating the abuse and mistreatment of detainees at Brook House Immigration Removal Centre in 2017.
Michela is also committed in representing clients in cases relating to unlawful use of force, discrimination, and breaches of the Human Rights Act by the police and prison authorities.
Michela joined Bhatt Murphy in 2017 and is a member of the Police Actions Lawyers Group and the INQUEST Lawyers Group.
