Caution revoked after spit-hood arrest

A formal caution administered to Ik Aihie after his arrest at London Bridge Station on 21 July 2016 has been quashed. Video footage of Mr Aihie’s arrest shows a spit hood being placed over his head whilst he is handcuffed and held face down on the ground by police officers.

After his release from custody Mr Aihie instructed Bhatt Murphy Solicitors to issue judicial review proceedings in the High Court to challenge the caution on the basis that it was unlawful and unjustifiable. Just days before that challenge was due to be heard, the BTP have now accepted that Mr Aihie, who is of good character, should not have been cautioned.
