Christine McDonald died on 3 March 2019, aged 55, after having been found hanging in her room at HMP Styal on 2 March 2019, where she had been detained since 1 March 2019.
The inquest, opening on 29 April 2024 and listed for 8 days, will focus on the care and observations provided to Christine McDonald in prison and at Wythenshawe Hospital. Christine’s family is represented by Jane Ryan, Catherine Shannon and Basanti Mardemootoo at Bhatt Murphy with Alison Gerry of Doughty Street Chambers.
