Supreme Court to hear John Catt legal challenge

At the hearing, on 2-4 December 2014, the Association of Chief Police Officers and Metropolitan Police will seek to argue that it is lawful for police forces to retain data about Mr Catt’s lawful political activities.

Mr Catt will argue that there are insufficient legal safeguards to protect the privacy of innocent people who attend demonstrations, in the hope that police forces will need to review the way in which they gather and retain such information.
