Police Apology and Damages for Assault on Student

PC Andrew Ott was convicted in May 2015 of assaulting Will Horner in the course of a student protest in December 2010. He has since been dismissed. Mr Horner has now received an apology and substantial damages from the police.

PC Ott, together with two other officers, also faced trial on charges of conspiring to pervert the course of justice, after PC Ott accidentally recorded exchanges between them. All three were acquitted; however the remaining two officers will face gross misconduct proceedings in September of this year.
